'Moments in Time' - Lindsay Harris
28-June-2006 - 27-July-2006
Lindsay Harris is a story teller, a Noongar artist with a deep and abiding respect for his country, his people and their histories. This intensity of feeling is becoming increasingly evident in the subtle ways he uses paint and natural pigments to describe his relationship to landscape and to memory. The scars that cross his landscape hint at the traditions of ceremonial scarring of the body, sparse and confident; inviting the viewer to share in the story, to discover the narratives.
The art of Lindsay Harris occupies that difficult place between past histories and present realities, always with optimism and with obvious delight in making.
