'My Country My Place' - Moira Macumboy

Moira's quietly confident use of line and a restrained but powerful colour palette explore the themes of water and bush life in and around Lockhart River, 850km north of Cairns. Showing simultaneously is the group exhibition 'New Works from Lockhart River' featuring new paintings by Adrian King in his signature naive style, artist/acclaimed dancer Josiah Omeenyo's fluid and lyrical work, the small-scale renditions of the swamps and swimming holes of the community by Irene Namok (mother of Rosella Namok) and paintings of the head and arm bands asociated with dance in the area by Elizabeth "Queenie" Giblet .
