S E M E L E - Moira de la Hunty
S E M E L E
Moira de la Hunty presents her interpretation of Semele, which is based on an ancient Greek myth.
Inspired by the story of love, loss, death and despair, de la Hunty has created a series of oil paintings capturing the emotions and life of Semele.
In her own style, using carefully selected imagery and technique, Moira has portrayed this classic myth through a contemporary lens, inviting the viewer to deeply consider Semele both in times of the Greek gods and the relevance of the story today.
The exhibition will coincide with the Australian premiere of John Eccles' 1706 operatic setting of Semele, by baroque ensemble, HIP Company, on historical instruments. To be performed SUNDAY 14 April 7-9.30pm.at the Leederville Town Hall, 84 Cambridge St, West Leederville.
